"The food is Latin fusion, heavy on the seafood including such staples as paella, mixed seafood salad, short rib empanadas, gourmet fish tacos, Gambas a lJillo, seafood scampi bake, mofongo, bistec enCebollado, yucca fries, and sweet plantains," Owner Jackfry Rosado explains.
Donjitos grand opening is set for Friday, May 31.
Executive Chef Luis Casenas rounds out the team at Donjito whose look is "classy industrial with one wall anchored with weathered brick and the other side with leather."
There is an outside patio that seats 40 with a constant breeze from the harbor.
"This is the first restaurant we are opening as owners but have been involved in many openings as executive chef. We were the original team that opened up Don Coqui in New Rochelle and then Astoria, City Island, and White Plains. We left to pursue other ventures in 2017," Rosado said.
